Three Granite Sizes Installed in a Running Bond

The project combines 600 × 300 mm, 400 × 300 mm and 300 × 300 mm slabs in a running bond arrangement.

A running bond pattern offsets the joints between successive courses rather than creating long, continuous cross-joints across the paved surface. For a large pedestrian area, this produces a more continuous visual flow and avoids the rigid grid-like appearance associated with a simple stack bond.

Flamed Granite Surface for a Pedestrian Environment

All three paving sizes were supplied with a flamed surface finish.

Flaming exposes the crystalline structure of the granite and creates a textured, non-polished face. This provides a more appropriate walking surface for an external pedestrian environment than a smooth polished finish.

The flamed treatment also strengthens the visual character of the yellow granite. Individual crystals and mineral variations become more visible, giving the paving a natural, granular appearance that changes subtly under different lighting and weather conditions.
