Are the Product Photos Taken from Real Clay Pavers?
Yes. Many of our product images show the actual clay pavers, real product samples and completed installations rather than relying on a single catalogue image. Multiple photographs are provided wherever possible so customers can see the natural colour range, surface texture, firing variation and overall appearance before ordering. As clay is a naturally fired material, exact colour variation between individual pavers should still be expected.
Do I Need to Mix Clay Pavers from Different Packs Before Laying?
Yes, it is good practice to take clay pavers from several packs during installation rather than completing one pack at a time. Natural firing creates normal variations in colour and tone, and mixing the pavers as they are laid helps distribute this variation more evenly across the finished area. Even where packs have been blended during production or packing, mixing from several packs on site provides a more balanced overall appearance.
Are These Slim Clay Pavers Suitable for Driveways?
Yes, where the specific clay paver is specified for vehicular use and installed on a correctly designed driveway construction. The sub-base, bedding layer, edge restraints, joint filling and compaction are all critical to long-term performance. A herringbone laying pattern is generally preferred for vehicle areas because it provides strong interlock against braking, turning and other horizontal forces.
Should I Leave a Joint Gap Between These Slim Clay Pavers?
Yes. Clay pavers should not normally be installed in direct point contact with each other. For flexible paving, a narrow joint of approximately 2–4 mm, with around 2 mm as a useful target, allows for normal dimensional variation and provides space for suitable kiln-dried jointing sand. String lines should be used regularly to maintain the laying pattern and consistent alignment.
Will the Colour Change After the Clay Pavers Are Installed?
The fired colour forms part of the clay body rather than being a surface coating, so quality clay pavers are highly colourfast and do not lose their colour in the same way as many surface-coloured paving products. The pavers may appear darker or richer when wet and lighter when dry, while normal weathering will gradually give the surface a more established outdoor appearance. These changes are normal and do not mean that the original fired colour is being removed.
