Installation Guidance

For safety and correct performance, the flamed textured side must be used as the top surface. The smooth sawn face should always be used on the underside of the slab. Using the smooth face on top may result in slipperiness, especially when wet.

Granite paving must be installed on a full mortar bed. We strongly advise against dot bedding, dab bedding, ring bedding, or any spot-support methods. A continuous full bed ensures long-term stability, prevents future cracking, and provides proper load distribution.

Granite paving performs best when installed using a full-mortar rigid method designed for long-term strength in the British climate. Begin with a compacted Type 1 sub-base, set a suitable fall for drainage, and secure firm edge restraints. Lay each slab on a 30–40 mm mortar bed and apply an SBR-enhanced slurry primer to the underside to ensure strong adhesion. Tap the slabs into place with consistent joints and allow the bedding to cure before applying a suitable jointing compound.
