Our Silver Grey Sawn & Flamed Granite Setts Mixed Size Project Pack contains three sizes: 350 x 150, 250 x 150 and 150 x 150 mm, all 50 mm thick. Each sett has a flamed top surface, straight sawn edges and a flat sawn underside. The accurately cut dimensions make laying easier and help maintain consistent joints.

Mixing three sizes gives the paving a more varied and natural appearance than using one size throughout. The different lengths can be arranged in staggered patterns, creating an attractive layout with regular but less repetitive joint lines. Staggered joints also help reduce continuous lines of weakness and improve the stability of the paving. With properly compacted bedding, suitable jointing and secure edge restraints, this arrangement helps resist movement under vehicle traffic, making it a practical choice for driveways.
Our silver grey granite has a light grey background with natural darker mineral grains. The flamed top provides a textured, slip-resistant surface, while the sawn edges allow narrower, more consistent joints than traditional hand-split granite cobbles. The 50 mm thickness can be used for domestic driveways, paths and patios when installed on a suitable supporting base.
Mixed Size Granite Setts Project Pack – 7.68 m²
Each wooden crate contains eight layers, with 26 setts per layer. The pack includes three sizes in the following quantities:
- 350 x 150 x 50 mm: 64 pieces
- 250 x 150 x 50 mm: 72 pieces
- 150 x 150 x 50 mm: 72 pieces
Each layer contains 0.96 m² of granite. A full crate contains 208 setts, giving a total net stone area of 7.68 m². All three sizes are packed together in fixed quantities, making it easier to plan mixed-size paving layouts.
Note: Sawn granite setts are normally laid with 5–8 mm joints. Our prices are based on the net stone area of 7.68 m² per crate, excluding joints. The actual laid area will be greater when joints are included. Allow for cutting and wastage when calculating the quantity required for your project.
These mixed-size granite setts are suitable for driveway paving, garden paths, patios and decorative borders. They can be laid on their own or combined with larger granite paving slabs. For driveways, particular attention should be given to the bedding, jointing and edge restraints, especially where vehicles turn or brake.
For projects requiring a single size, we also supply silver grey sawn granite setts 100 x 100 x 50 mm and silver grey sawn granite setts 200 x 100 x 50 mm.

Are Granite Setts Suitable for Driveways?
Yes, granite setts are well suited for driveways due to their strength and durability. They are one of the most reliable materials used in block paving, capable of withstanding regular vehicle use and commonly applied in both domestic and commercial settings across the UK.
What Sizes and Thicknesses Are Available?
Typical granite sett sizes include 100 x 100 and 100 x 200, along with mixed size project packs that create a more traditional and varied appearance.
In terms of thickness, 50 mm is the most commonly used option for residential applications. It is well suited for standard driveways and can comfortably support cars and light commercial vehicles, including vans and small trucks, when installed correctly on a full mortar bed with a suitable sub-base. This makes 50 mm setts the typical choice for domestic paving projects where both durability and cost efficiency are important.
For heavier-duty applications, thicker setts such as 80 mm or 100 mm are used. These are generally specified for public areas, commercial yards, access roads, or locations subject to frequent heavy vehicle traffic. The additional thickness provides greater load-bearing capacity and long-term structural stability under sustained pressure.
In addition, thinner granite setts options, typically around 30 mm and usually supplied as sawn setts, are more suitable for light-use areas. These are commonly used in patios, garden paths, edging, and as decorative borders or dividing lines within patio slab layouts. While they retain the visual character of traditional granite setts, they are not intended for load-bearing applications.
How Much Do Granite Setts Cost and What Affects the Price?
Granite setts are generally more expensive than standard paving slabs due to both the material and the labour required for installation. Prices typically vary depending on size, thickness and finish.
Smaller setts require more units per square metre and more jointing work, which can increase overall installation cost. Pricing is also influenced by factors such as groundwork preparation and layout complexity. For a detailed breakdown, see Granite Setts Cost per m².
How Should Granite Setts Be Installed?
Granite setts should be laid on a well-compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base with a full mortar bed. For sawn grid size setts, applying a slurry primer to the underside is recommended to improve bonding and reduce the risk of movement. Proper jointing is important to keep the setts stable and ensure long-term performance. For a full step-by-step guide, see How to Lay Granite Setts for a Driveway.
Do Granite Setts Require Sealing or Maintenance?
Granite setts generally do not require sealing. Routine maintenance is simple, usually involving sweeping and occasional cleaning to keep the surface in good condition.
